Lumen — OTT Streaming Platform
A subscription video platform with adaptive HLS streaming, gated playback, multi-profile accounts, and a content management console.
The challenge
Lumen needed to launch a paid streaming portal in 8 weeks with secure playback, multi-profile accounts, and a way for their content team to publish shows without filing engineering tickets for every upload.
What we built
Built a Next.js app with Mux for HLS streaming, signed token playback, and a custom admin console for content publishing. Stripe Billing manages subscriptions and webhooks. Originals land in S3, trigger an AWS MediaConvert job, and the ladder is pushed to CloudFront automatically.
The outcome
Launched on schedule with 24k subscribers in the first quarter and a 99.6% buffer-free playback rate across devices. The content team ships a new show in under 10 minutes — the same workflow used to take a full engineering day.
